Accommodation
Studying or doing research in France is an enriching experience. To settle in successfully, plan your housing arrangements in advance. In Paris, demand is high: a complete application, a realistic budget and knowledge of rental terms and conditions will make all the difference. Exploring all the possibilities will enable you to approach this stage with confidence and make the most of your mobility.
Health and insurance formalities
You have to be covered during your academic stay in France. Assurance Maladie, the French health insurance scheme, covers medical treatment and gives you access to the Carte Vitale. Hospitalisation and repatriation insurance, supplementary health insurance and third-party liability insurance mean you're protected in all circumstances and can manage your day-to-day life with peace of mind.
Life off campus
Make the most of your time outside the campus by taking public transport and getting a travel card. Make sure you have a telephone and internet package to stay connected. Explore local cultural and leisure activities. If you are coming with your family, find out about schooling for your children to help them integrate and enjoy their stay.
End-of-stay formalities
Before your leave France, remember to carry out the required formalities. You will need to cancel your lease and various subscriptions (electricity, internet, telephone, etc.) to avoid unnecessary costs. You should also notify your bank and any relevant institutions. Planning these steps in advance will ensure you have a smooth departure and can avoid complications after you leave.
