Learning French at Sorbonne University
The French as a Foreign Language courses are open to everyone. At Sorbonne University, this service is provided by the Office of Foreign Languages (SIAL) based on the Clignancourt campus.
To find out more about our FLE courses and view the catalogue, see the Moodle-SIAL teaching platform.
SIAL-FLE is not an examination centre. If you have any questions about French language certification, please contact SELFEE Sorbonne.
Learning French outside of the university
In addition to the programmes offered at Sorbonne University, you can take courses in French as a Foreign Language (FLE) at specialist external centres. To ensure that your training organisation is reputable, we recommend that you check whether it has been awarded a quality label.
There are several official labels that attest to the quality of French language teaching in France. From these, we recommend, but not exclusively, the state-recognised FLE Quality label.
This label is issued by the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs, and the French Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Culture. It is awarded to centres that meet stringent criteria in terms of training, learning support, visitor facilities, etc.
Choosing a centre with a recognised label means that you will benefit from:
- structured teaching tailored to your level
- clear and professional organisation
- a learning environment that will help you make progress
These centres are regularly assessed to ensure compliance with quality standards.
