You are doing an international mobility programme at Sorbonne University to study or do research. Before coming to our campuses, you will need to complete a number of administrative procedures, which will depend on your nationality, the length of your stay, the amount of funding available to you and how your mobility experience is set up.

Profil Étudiant Degree-granting mobility with a partnership agreement

A degree-granting exchange programme with a partnership agreement is part of an international training scheme, such as a double degree or a joint Erasmus Mundus Master's programme.

This scheme encourages student mobility by developing scientific cooperation between French and foreign research teams. Students complete part of their course in one or more partner institutions and obtain Bachelor's or Master's degrees awarded by Sorbonne University, and in some cases by additional partner universities in the framework of Erasmus Mundus joint master's programme.

  • How to proceed ?

Contact the appropriate office within your home institution responsible for managing your mobility.

Prepare for your mobility experience by starting the administrative procedures for your stay by consulting the "Managing your stay" section.

Profil Étudiant Non-degree-granting mobility with a partnership agreement

This type of student exchange programme involves spending part of your university course abroad without receiving a degree from the host institution.

This type of exchange programme must be governed by a partnership agreement between Sorbonne University and your home institution (MoU or specific international cooperation agreement, Erasmus+ bilateral or multilateral agreement, etc.) or be linked to an official programme.

To be eligible, you must be nominated by your home institution for a study period at Sorbonne University or be selected for a scholarship programme.

International students on supervised non-degree-granting exchange programmes are exempt from the registration fees in force at Sorbonne University and are issued with a student card.

Students who are nationals of a country covered by the "Study in France" (Études en France) procedure must submit their application for admission to an exchange programme at Sorbonne University on the Études en France portal.

  • How to proceed ?

Contact the appropriate department at your home institution to find out about existing partnerships and to confirm your mobility plan.

Each programme is subject to a selection process. It is therefore essential to check that your application meets the specific criteria of the programme you have chosen.

You should also find out in advance about the course you wish to follow at Sorbonne University, to check that it corresponds to your academic background as a whole (courses offered, duration, language of instruction, etc.).

For more information, see the “Study” section on Sorbonne University website.
